Alltwalis Wind Farm, located to the north of the town of Carmarthen in Wales, was granted planning consent by Carmarthenshire County Council in March 2007. Construction began in November 2008 and the wind farm is scheduled to become fully operational by January 2010. The project is now wholly owned by Statkraft Wind UK Ltd.
The scheme comprises 10 wind turbines and will have
a combined installed capacity of 23 megawatts (MW).
The expected annual production of electricity is around
65 gigawatt hours (GWh) - enough to supply approximately
16,000 UK households with "green" electricity.
Siemens Wind Power has been chosen as the turbine supplier
and Carillion has been awarded the construction contract.
