Statkraft is currently investigating a number of noise complaints following the recent commissioning of the Alltwalis Wind Farm.
We have appointed one of the UKs leading noise consultants to investigate the issue, and in cooperation with Carmarthenshire Council, a public meeting was held with concerned residents where it was agreed that noise monitoring equipment would be installed at local properties to collect data. This equipment was installed within a few days of the meeting held in the village of Gwyddgrug.
As soon as sufficient data is collected it will be analysed, and we will hold another meeting to share the results with local residents, and to consider if any further steps need to be taken.
Statkraft, commenced the Operation & Maintenance of the wind farm, on the 4thJanuary 2010, from its Hydro Electric Station at Cwm Rheidol, near Aberystwyth, and wish to build a positive relationship with all members of the community. Hopefully this has been demonstrated by our swift response to the concern over noise.

Due to a paint defect being detected on four blades of our ten wind turbines, we are expecting the delivery of four new sets of blades this week and early next week.(i.e. twelve new blades in total).
Even though the defective blades are the smaller of the ones on site and disruption will be minimal, Statkraft would still like to apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused.
Rather than wait until next summer to replace the blades, we have decided to take this action now, so that no further disruption is caused for local residents once the wind farm is fully operational.
October 2009
We are pleased to announce that the substation has now been energized and the commissioning phase of the development will now commence. During commissioning, the turbines will be tested and some power will be generated. However, the wind farm will not be fully operational until early December.
September 2009 - New project name:
Following recent consultation with Llanfihangel-ar-Arth ward
residents and other stakeholders, our project will now be
known as 'Alltwalis Wind Farm' and not Blaengwen. We
received hundreds of comment forms and thank the residents
who participated in the consultation.
August 2009 - Turbine delivery:
The wind turbines are being transported and constructed on
site during August and September 2009. Turbines, blades,
hubs and towers will be shipped from Denmark to Swansea.
The components will then be transported by road to the site.
Some parts are up to 45 metres long, and will require special
arrangements to be made along the route. We apologise in
advance for any delay or inconvenience this may cause to
traffic. Transportation is anticipated to commence in August
and last for approximately one month.
Update from the site:
Construction is well underway and will be completed by
autumn 2009. Foundations for the ten wind turbines, and the
roads and underground cables between them, have been
completed. The cables will connect the turbines to a
sub-station, which is currently under construction. At the end
of July, work to connect the overhead lines to the electricity
pylons recommenced. These lines will transfer the electricity
from the sub-station to the national grid, supplying homes and
businesses with "green" energy.
Weekend working:
Carmarthenshire County Council has granted permission for
the delivery of materials on Saturdays between 07:00 and
13:00, and for construction work to be undertaken on
Saturdays and Sundays between 07:00 and 16:00. No work
will take place over Bank Holiday weekends.
